Position Summary:
The Junior Accountant will perform general accounting and accounts payable tasks and analysis. The Junior Accountant ensures the adequacy of internal controls within their area of responsibility and makes recommendations on any required adjustments.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare schedules, journal entries, and account reconciliations related to month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in the Accounts Payable function including invoice processing and review, ensuring adherence to the organizational purchasing policy.
- Analyze general ledger, research discrepancies and fluctuations, and provide explanations for management reporting.
- Track daily cash and enter wires; process remote deposits.
- Special and ad hoc projects and reporting.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 2 years’ experience with General Ledger accounting
- Highly analytical and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize
- Will work well under pressure, and be able to meet deadlines in a complex and multi-tasking environment
- Must have strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Must be a flexible and energetic team player with excellent work ethic
- Will embrace process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting is a plus
