General Summary
Reporting to the Director, Major Gifts & Individual Giving, the Manager, Individual Giving works as part the Development team in a fast-paced environment. This role focuses on providing exceptional customer service to NYCB membership levels ($100 - $2,499) and Patron Program levels ($2,500 to $19,999). This position is responsible for planning and managing membership acquisition appeals, renewals, second asks, and stewardship communications through the various channels (direct mail, tele-funding, online, and social media) and benefit fulfillment. The person in this role will also lead social media campaigns and assist with this coordination for the Patron Program. Will serve as the liaison with our tele-funding consultant and help to ensure that all state charitable renewal filings are current.
This position manages member dress rehearsals, receptions, and various events throughout the year. Will also provide support to Patron Programs events as required. Working closely with the Director, Major Gifts & Individual Giving and Associate Director, Patron Program, the Manager will oversee an existing portfolio, develop and implement strategies to expand the supporter base and elevate current donors to higher levels of giving. The Manager serves as the direct supervisor to the Coordinator, Membership and works in collaboration with all areas of individual giving.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages Membership department to further fundraising objectives.
Works with the Director, Major Gifts & Individual Giving:
- Create and oversee all Membership acquisition, renewal, second-ask, and special campaigns to expand individual donor base and provides support to Patron Program in this same area.
- Manage a portfolio of approx. 60 Patron Program donors and prospects, serving as their primary liaison to the Company.
- Serve as the primary contact with outside vendors including mail houses and graphic designers for all Membership and some Patron Program communications.
- Works with Marketing department to increase Membership’s presence on NYCB’s social media platforms, digital communications, and season subscription campaign materials.
- Manages tracking of all Membership campaigns, contributions, and challenge grants by fundraising channel and source, and creates and manages various reports as needed.
- Manages annual Welcome Back packets that are distributed to all donors, regardless of level, including data collection, design and coordination with individual giving and marketing.
- Works with Marketing to design various individual giving publications, including the brochures, donor event invitations, Membership cards, welcome packets, and patron newsletters.
- Manages Patron and Membership’s annual solicitation and events calendars.
- Hiring and supervising interns throughout the year.
Oversees individual giving tasks to advance annual fundraising plans.
- Oversees the Coordinator, Membership with generating Membership tax receipt/gift acknowledgement letters and Membership cards on a monthly basis.
- Works with the Coordinator to source and enter all Membership gifts and upload and maintain related attendance data in Tessitura.
- Oversees weekly membership rehearsals during repertory seasons, including working with the Coordinator to select programs, manage RSVP lists, and coordinate with Volunteers Services.
- Organizes and manages quarterly member working dress rehearsals in collaboration with Theater Operations, Volunteer Services, the Call Center, and the Box Office during the Company’s performance seasons.
Supports development with planning and implementing organizational goals
- Works with Director and Donor Records to manage annual tele-funding campaigns, including coordinating data and suppression files, and fielding questions from the on-site call room manager.
- Works with Director to ensure a current status of all state charitable filings.
- Assist IT and Donor Records with database management needs for patron and membership programs.
- Provides support and completes additional projects as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Highest moral character and integrity
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Four years’ experience in fundraising or marketing
- Self-motivated, results oriented, and goal focused

- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines with limited oversight
- Financial accounting and solid customer service skills required
- Persuasive and strategic communicator with demonstrated interpersonal skills and problem-solving ability
- Proficiency with standard business applications, such as MS Office
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Experience with Tessitura or related donor database preferred

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position and the hours of work are between 10am – 6pm weekdays. Position requires the ability to participate in donor events and attend performances, including frequent evenings and weekends. Travel may be required as needed.
