The New York City Ballet Membership Department is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible intern. Working under the expert guidance of a seasoned Development team member, the individual in the position will gain practical work experience in the areas of development, patron relations, database management, and research.
Reports to: Coordinator, Membership
Internship dates: March 2025 – May 2025
Desired time commitment: 15-21 hours per week
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shadow supervisor in corresponding with patrons over the phone, assisting with annual gift renewals, voicemail inquiries, and troubleshooting.
- Assist the department with packaging and mailing acknowledgment packages, including premiums and brochures.
- Contribute to researching new and prospective donors.
- Help to maintain inventory of all Membership materials.
- Learn how to update our invitation and salutation lists using the Tessitura database.
- Work closely with the team to facilitate social media and e-blast campaigns.
- Learn the process for a mass mailing campaign.
- Work with the Patron Program team to edit and proofread copy for acquisition appeals, renewal letters, and Playbill.
- Support the Development team with general administrative support as needed.
- Attend staff meetings and events whenever support is necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a currently enrolled student in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
- Professional demeanor and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Interest in Development and Arts Administration.
- Knowledge of NYCB a plus
Benefits include access to ballet performances and special events for patrons. Office dress is business casual during the business day and formal for special events. Desired time commitment is at least three days per week with flexibility to schedule.
