Department(s) Function (Note: This is a hybrid role)
This is a hybrid role split between the Programs Department and the Judiciary Committee Office.
The Programs Department offers various types of programs for attorneys to update and continue their education in the law as well as earn required Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit, along with non-CLE programs. In addition to the approximately 130 discrete live programs, we offer live webcasts and online/on demand programs. The Programs Department is committed to providing quality and timely programs to both newly admitted and experienced attorneys.
The Judiciary Committee Office provides general administrative assistance for the Judiciary Committee, coordinating intra-Judiciary Committee communication, collaboration with other county bar associations, and contact with potential judicial candidates the Committee reviews for state and federal judicial posts.
Programs Department areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
This is a hybrid position. Currently, this role will generally need to come into the office 50% of the time and for City Bar events, though this may change based on changing needs.
Starting salary for this position is $47,000-$48,500 (annualized), for a 35-hour workweek, based on experience. Additional pay is provided for extra hours worked. Programs Department areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Correspond with program & events faculty; confirm faculty information
- Set deadlines for course materials and following up as necessary
- Obtain copyright permission for articles and assist with organizing materials and sending materials for reproduction
- Organize meetings for faculty; send marketing materials to faculty
- Assist with all aspects of customer service at programs including setting up the registration desk, processing walk-in registrations, distributing CLE certificates, ensuring attendees and faculty members sign in/out, and ensure the room is properly set-up
- Post non-CLE programs
- Help ensure program attendance is updated and correctly noted in database
- Take on additional responsibilities/special projects as needed
- Back-up for Judiciary Committee Assistant with general administrative duties necessary for Judiciary Committee to function effectively; attend Judiciary Committee meetings as needed
- Take on additional Judiciary Committee responsibilities/special projects as needed
- Associate level degree or higher, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 1 year relevant work and/or internships experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong computer skills and moderate proficiency in Office 365
- Ability to work effectively collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently
- Excellent proofreading skills and attention to detail required
- Able to multi-task, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines
- Successfully provide excellent customer service in a professional manner
- Interest in nonprofit organizations
- Some knowledge of legal field and/or court system a plus
- Must be flexible to work evening hours and early mornings, when needed for programs held before and after general work hours; may also require some travel within the five boroughs to attend business/judiciary committee meetings
