Registered Nurse 1, Psychiatric - Nurse Assessor - Crisis Intervention Unit
Capital District Psychiatric Center (CDPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited facility, is currently recruiting Registered Nurses to serve as Nurse Assessors for their Crisis Intervention Unit (CIU). Positions are available on overnight shifts including weekends.
The CIU provides 24-hour crisis response to children, adolescents, and adults in the Capital Region. Individuals can be referred by a mobile crisis team, law enforcement, outpatient clinics, local hospitals, or individuals can self-present in a time of crisis.
Nurse Assessors will perform the full range of activities as authorized under the scope of practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to triage and assess individuals in a psychiatric emergency room setting including:
- Providing rapid crisis intervention.
- Responding to individual’s emergency psychiatric needs and recording significant psychosocial events and/or changes in clinical condition.
- Conducting clinical assessments to determine appropriate interventions, services, and supports, including diagnostic impressions.
- Determining individual discharge needs and providing appropriate community resources.
- Educating individuals and family members on the illness and how to access available resources.
- Collaborating with local hospitals for patient transfer for continued hospitalization and treatment.
- Serving as primary contact for information and coordination of services and treatment for individuals, family members, vocational and educational support providers, other entities including probation, parole, and other community agencies associated with treatment.
Minimum Qualifications: NYS License and current registration to practice as a professional nurse.
