JOB TITLE: Nutrition Intern

COMPENSATION: $16.50/hour
POSITION OVERVIEW:
New York City FC (NYCFC) is excited to offer the opportunity to a candidate to join their Human Performance Department. As the nutrition intern, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery and enhancing the quality of nutritional services within NYCFC’s First and Second teams. In line with NYCFC’s Human Performance Department philosophy the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting, and delivering when required, performance nutrition support to NYCFC First and Second teams.

- Assist with the development of strategic nutrition and recovery programs, including supplementation, travel nutrition, performance catering, illness prevention and return to play from injury.
- Undertake education that aids in the practical design and delivery of comprehensive nutritional interventions that support players' training programs and competition.
- Assist with the delivery of nutritional education to the players, including the production of educational resources such as presentations, placards, and information sheets.
- Attend multi-disciplinary meetings to provide updates on individual nutritional plans and contribute to the holistic development of our players.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to safely and effectively deliver programs, and convey key messages to colleagues, players and coaches.
- Understanding of the nutritional demands of soccer.
- An enthusiastic approach and proactive attitude.
- Highly organized, with an ability to manage workload, prioritize and meet deadlines quickly and efficiently.
- Detail oriented.
- Computer literate with an ability to assimilate new software & processes quickly.
- Ability to get to CFA (Orangeburg, NY) and be able to commit to the full program (4 days per week, approx. 30hrs)
- Experience in working in/or with soccer (desirable, not essential)
TYPICAL WORKING SCHEDULE:
Successful candidate will be expected to complete, but not limited to the following:
- Work with the team through the entire MLS season (March 21st – December 9th, 2024)
- 4 days per week at CFA (Typically Monday to Friday but varies based on season schedule)
- 8:00am – 2:00pm (approx. 6hrs per day)
- Attend occasional home games to assist the Human Performance staff.
ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS:
- Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to lift 45lbs at times
