Operating from Pier 83 in Hudson River Park at 42nd Street and 12th Avenue, (convenient to Times Square, The High Line and Hudson Yards) and Slip 6 in Battery Park, Circle Line is the oldest and largest provider of sightseeing cruises using the most modern vessels. NYCL also operates the New York Water Taxi transportation fleet of ferries, New York’s only maritime thrill-ride, The Beast, innovative maritime restaurants, North River Lobster Company and La Barca Cantina.
New York Cruise Lines has an immediate opportunity for a flexible, self-starting, hard-working and organized individual to work directly with the Captain as a Deckhand to ensure the highest level of customer service, safety, and sanitation.
Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in all safety and environmental programs including emergency drills
- Maintain a neat and clean appearance with company uniform provided
- Assist in the transfer of passengers to and from vessel
- Assist the captain in checking and inspecting the vessels safety equipment
- Assure that all passengers remain seated while vessel is under way When necessary and directed by the captain, assisting in transfer of cargo
- Report immediately to the captain incidents, problems, hazards, or unsafe conditions which could cause damage to the vessel/other vessels or harm to crew members, passengers, and others
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Willing to learn and participate in training and drills
- Always be on time and prepared for work
- Follow instructions of the captain or senior deckhand
- Ability to lift 40 pounds Ability to climb ladders, throw lines, and raise/lower gangways is a must
- Pre-employment and random drug testing required
- Manage multiple priorities/tasks
- TWIC Card Required
