Summary: Under the direction of the Data Manager, the Assistant Data Manager will collaborate on multiple year-round projects to meet the organization’s needs, such as: Funding ROP analysis, Survey outcomes, EMT analysis, Program Summary Report, etc. In conjunction with Data Manager oversight, the Assistant Data Manager will supervise all Data Coordinators and their cohort of sites to ensure data accuracy and the development of critical progress reports. The Assistant Data Manager will be responsible for the management and utilization of all database systems, including Salesforce, DYCD Connect, and EZ Reports. In conjunction with the Data Management Team, the Assistant Data Manager will ensure the organization’s infrastructure is compliant with all funding source requisites as they apply to contractual requirements. The Assistant Data Manager will work directly with the Data Manager and key stakeholders within the organization, as well as researchers and funders, to analyze data to support research and evaluation for grant writing purposes.

 

Primary Job Functions include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Assist the Data Manager in identifying and addressing organizational data needs, ensuring timely processing of requests.
  • Create compelling charts and graphs that clearly demonstrate program and organizational outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Data Coordinators, fostering accountability and professional growth.
  • Support Data Coordinators in analyzing and reporting on site- and cohort-level trends to inform program improvements.
  • Collaborate with Data Coordinators to deliver accurate data insights to Program Management Teams and Directors.
  • Oversee and enforce the Data Audit Process, ensuring compliance and data integrity across all programs.
  • Compile, analyze, and organize data for research, evaluation projects, and grant proposals.
  • Work alongside the Data Manager to manage and mentor Data Coordinators, ensuring successful execution of their responsibilities.
  • Engage with stakeholders to deliver data insights that support grant writing and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and leverage data aligned with New York Edge’s mission to drive program effectiveness.
  • Manage core database systems, including Salesforce, DYCD Connect, and EZ Reports, ensuring optimal utilization.
  • Implement and monitor audit processes to uphold data accuracy and validity.
  • Generate timely and actionable monthly trend reports to support stakeholder decision-making.
  • Represent the Data Department in meetings, presenting data and insights as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all funder requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Develop action plans with Data Coordinators to address program trends and support Borough Directors.
  • Build and deliver professional reports, charts, and visualizations tailored to organizational needs.

                                              

Secondary Job Functions:

 

  • Train and provide ongoing support to Data Coordinators, ensuring they excel in their roles.
  • Collaborate on the recruitment, onboarding, and development of site-level Data Specialists.
  • Assist Data Coordinators during program visits to ensure effective site-based data collection.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with Data Coordinators to verify and maintain data compliance.
  • Facilitate meetings with program cohorts to help Data Coordinators communicate how data drives program success.
  • Support Data Coordinators in planning and leading Quarterly Meetings for Data Specialists.
  • Develop mentoring opportunities to strengthen Data Coordinators' analytical abilities and programmatic understanding.
  • Stay aligned with New York Edge's mission, ensuring goals and program requirements are met.

 

Interacts with:

 

  • Data Manager, Chief Programming Officer, Deputy Director, Program Management Staff, Data Coordinators and Data Specialists
  • In the absence of the Data Manager, responds to the chief team

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Ability to interpret and clearly explain data insights and their connection to program success.
  • Proven expertise in managing large and complex data sets with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and data integrity.
  • Proficiency in advanced database management and data visualization tools (e.g., Salesforce, Excel, Tableau, or Power BI).
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to data standards.
  • Reliable and dependable, consistently meeting deadlines and delivering on commitments.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Technological proficiency, with a strong understanding of computer systems and software applications relevant to data management.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address data-related challenges
  • Knowledge and experience regarding ROP, Beacon, DYCD, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office
  • Use of online databases, prior experience with DYCD Connect and/or Salesforce. 
  • 4-6 years of database experience
  • Expert level of Excel proficiency
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience in team supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret data insights and connect them to organizational goals.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
