Hourly rates start at $18 per hour. Candidates with meaningful experience can earn higher compensation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the orthodontist during procedures such as braces placement, adjustments, and removal.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and organizing orthodontic appliances.
- Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) and digital impressions using advanced imaging technology.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions for successful outcomes.
- Support orthodontic procedures including arch wire changes, retainer fittings, and aligner adjustments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including charting treatment progress and appliance usage.
- Ensure proper care, sterilization, and maintenance of orthodontic instruments and equipment.
- Collaborate with the orthodontist and treatment coordinator to manage scheduling and patient follow-up.
- Adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a safe and sterile environment.
- Stay updated with advancements in orthodontic techniques and technology through continuing education.
Qualifications:
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Certified Orthodontic Assistant (COA) credentials from an accredited program.
- X-ray certification and CPR certification required.
- Proven experience assisting in an orthodontic practice preferred.
- Proficiency in orthodontic procedures, including working with braces, clear aligners, retainers, and space maintainers.
- Familiarity with digital imaging systems (e.g., CBCT, 3D imaging, intraoral scanners).
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and maintaining confidentiality.
