GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES :
As the Senior Publicist, you will develop and execute promotion strategies for a wide range of Museum exhibitions, programs, and activities. Utilizing strong writing, organizational, and diplomatic skills, you will work with Museum colleagues across the organization and with reporters in New York City and around the world to generate awareness and appreciation of The Met.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES :
- Develop promotional programs for multiple Museum activities (e.g., exhibitions, acquisitions, events, leadership profiles).
- Collaborate with programmatic leaders across the museum to develop media relations objectives and lead promotional narratives.
- Write, edit and produce promotional content (e.g., press releases, advisories, talking points, and briefings).
- Partner with marketing, internal communications, and digital communications teams to develop comprehensive communications outreach plan.
- Develop and nurture relationships with reporters and media outlets.
- Spend time outside of the Museum to develop relationships with reporters.
- Other duties as assigned.

Location Requirements
At time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states : New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
