In this role, you will:
- Weigh patients and ensure proper labeling of collected samples
- Ensure knowledge of collection tubes and proper labeling of collected samples.- Run CBCs (Complete Blood Counts) to ensure timely patient treatment
- Perform venipuncture, urine dipsticks, stool testing, and run tests for Strep, Flu, COVID, and RSV
- Make blood smears upon provider request and assist in troubleshooting any issues
- Ensure accurate quality control procedures are followed prior to patient testing
- Operate centrifuges and perform maintenance as required
- Pour plasma/serum into transfer tubes, and prepare specimens for various conditions (room temperature, frozen, refrigerated, warm, light-sensitive)
- Handle specimens according to established protocols for in-house and send-out testing
- Operate CBC analyzers (XN430/50, XS1000i/c, Poch 100i) and document daily startup and shutdown
- Run, monitor, and troubleshoot quality controls and report any critical values to providers
- Perform and document all routine maintenance, including monthly rinses
- Identify and process orders efficiently in LIS (Laboratory Information System) and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems
- Perform glucose monitoring, fecal occult blood tests, PT/INR tests, and urine pregnancy tests (OSOM)
- Operate and maintain the Siemens Clinitek Status Urinalysis Analyzer
- Log into Labdaq, maintain requisitions, and create and adjust patient profiles
- Enter rapid order test codes, verify CBCs, and rerun critical results, documenting accordingly
- Ensure that orders are properly sent to reference labs, such as Labcorp and Quest
- Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma
- At least 1 year of experience
- Reliable transportation
- Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred
- Experience with phlebotomy and laboratory procedures
- Proficient in LIS/EMR systems, including LABDAQ
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and training skills
- Adaptability to changes in responsibilities and office environments
- Must be willing to float throughout our Urology locations
