New York Institute of Technology (New York Tech) is seeking a creative and innovative Dean to lead its School of Management and play a key role in fulfilling the institution’s specialized mission of providing high-quality, career-advancing business education within the context of a dynamic, technologically enabled, and entrepreneurial business environment.

With principal locations in Manhattan, Long Island (Old Westbury), and Vancouver, British Columbia, New York Tech's School of Management stands apart from other academic institutions because it provides requisite and contemporary academic and career-oriented student skills development in the context of a service-oriented and competitive international marketplace, integrating experiential learning, professional enrichment, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven business education to ensure student success. The School of Management is accredited by the AACSB.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President, the next Dean will serve as the chief academic, administrative, and fiscal officer of the School of Management. The Dean's responsibilities will include developing and implementing a compelling strategic plan; supporting a commitment to and further establishing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives; ensuring the success of students at all levels; as well as recruiting, developing, and retaining distinguished faculty and talented staff. Fundraising through both private and public means, including donations and grants, is also an important responsibility of this position.

The next Dean will be responsible for generating new resources, expanding undergraduate and graduate enrollment, strategically developing additional masters and certificate programs, maximizing the value of the School’s locations, and engaging with local and regional business communities. The Dean will also work closely with the Dean's Advisory Board, which comprises alumni, business leaders, and community members who support the School, its mission, and its vision for the future.

New York Tech is seeking an experienced academic leader with the vision, maturity, and management qualities necessary to build on the School’s reputation and take it to even higher levels of academic and scholarly excellence and student success. The preferred candidate will have proven experience to cultivate relationships, raise funds, and perpetuate opportunities with the alumni base and the greater New York City metro area business community. The Dean will express a passion for the mission of business education and the ability to persuasively articulate—both internally and externally—the School’s mission and values.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should be an experienced administrator and transformational leader. Candidates should ideally hold a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree from an accredited institution and have a record of teaching and scholarly or professional attainment that merits appointment as professor with tenure. While a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree and previous teaching experience would be preferred, New York Tech will consider candidates with exceptional leadership credentials acquired in non-academic settings and who convey a keen commitment to an academic mission.

The desired candidate will have proven leadership skills, strong business acumen, and experience in strategic planning, fiscal and budget management, and organizational development. The ideal candidate will also have experience with academic innovation and effective engagement with the business community. Candidates should be open and transparent communicators who embrace shared governance and collective bargaining and foster a positive work environment for the faculty and staff through mutual respect, collaboration, enthusiasm, and inclusion. Experience with AACSB and its accrediting principles, policies, and processes is preferred.
