For over fifty years, New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) has honored its founder Arthur Ashe’s legacy by celebrating the diversity of children, encouraging them to reach their highest potential through free tennis and academic programs. NYJTL is the largest provider of youth tennis and education programs in the nation, providing services in 100 unique sites across all five boroughs while reaching nearly 90,000 kids. In addition, NYJTL designed, funded (with NYC), built and operates the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in the South Bronx. All NYJTL community tennis and after school programs are offered at no cost to its participants.

Position Summary:
NYJTL seeks an experienced professional to become the Director of School-Based Operations. This individual will assist with overseeing the delivery of after-school programs while ensuring that the agency meets the compliance and quality standards established by the program’s primary funder, the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), and other partners. The Director will also play a key role in standardizing systems and procedures across the ACES after-school department and the organization as a whole, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and scalability. Reporting to the Chief Education Officer, the Director will serve as a liaison between site-based staff and department leadership under DYCD contracts.
Core Responsibilities:
- Supervise, evaluate, develop, and train a corps of program managers, ensuring the adequacy and quality of site-wide programming, protocols, and standards within after-school sites.
- Maintain key statistics pertaining to programs based on funding goals and beyond including but not restricted to youth attendance, rate of participation (ROP), staffing ratios, compliance and program quality outcomes.
- Design career enhancement plans for site-based line staff.
- Support Director with contractual/budgetary analysis and spending plans.
- Develop and implement systems across the organization to maintain quality and compliance of programs.
- Annually update procedures and site-based family and employee handbooks.
- Attend meetings involving Department of Education, Department of Health, DYCD, and other school community partners.
- Collaborate with Director of Community Schools Initiatives to oversee and maintain equitable high-quality programming across all sites managed.
- Conduct site visits on a rotating basis to evaluate program quality and compliance.
- Monitor vacancies, turnover, new hires; address action plans with Human Resources and Talent Acquisition departments.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the goals and operations of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education, social work, or similar field required.
- 7 years professional experience in youth development.
- Knowledge of DYCD contractual, budgetary, regulatory requirements a must.
- Prior supervisory role as Program Manager or equivalent a plus.
- Highly skilled in data literacy and analytics.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional organizational abilities, with a proven ability to manage tasks efficiently.
