Overview

The Chief Development Officer and Executive Director of Alumni Relations is tasked with leading a comprehensive fundraising and alumni relations strategy, including philanthropic development, major gifts, annual fund and alumni relations and any special campaigns. This position has the primary responsibility for developing and implementing strategies to ensure that the College implements an aggressive, creative and successful fundraising program to meet or exceed the near and long-term fundraising goals for the College.

Responsibilities

 

  • Plans, directs and manages all activities and professional staff in development, advancement services and alumni relations.
  • Takes a leading role in developing and managing budgets for fundraising and alumni relations initiatives.
  • Manages a portfolio of new prospects and lapsed donors.
  • Contributes significantly to the development and implementation of a social marketing strategy.
  • Responsible for creating the strategic plan and goals for each area of major accountability and in support of the College's strategic plan.
  • Directs and guides the development staff, by implementing strategies to increase major gifts, unrestricted giving, planned giving, endowments, foundation support, annual giving and scholarship support.
  • Assists the Chancellor and CEO, and the Board of Trustees in building and nurturing long­ term relationships that yield significant major gifts and endowments.
  • Supports and serves the Chancellor and CEO, the Deans, the Board of Trustees, the Development Committee, and other key constituents.
  • Advises the Chancellor on all issues pertaining to development and alumni relations.
  • Directs the activities of the Alumni Office and serves as the key liaison to the Alumni Association and its activities.
  • Manages the coordination of alumni relations events and campaigns including the College's Founders Dinner, Alumni Reunion, and various alumni gatherings.
  • Supports the Vice President of Communications and Strategic Initiatives in supplying content for College's alumni publications and quarterly electronic alumni newsletters.
  • Directs programs that recruit, train and steward the involvement of volunteers in efforts that support fundraising and alumni relations.
  • Provides leadership and support to other members of the senior executive team.
  • Monitors and evaluates team performance against established goals.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Chancellor and CEO.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Considerable fundraising, alumni relations and management experience, having significant success in closing major gifts.
  • Demonstrated success in leading comprehensive advancement operations.
  • Experience managing fundraising staff, and major donor relationships.
  • Knowledge of school advancement and alumni affairs.

 

SKILLS:

  • Strong leadership abilities with a focus on team development and motivation.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies, including donors and school leadership.
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of achieving ambitious goals.
  • Ability to inspire staff in each area of responsibility by promoting direction and leadership on a day-to-day basis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising database software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Extensive use of computers and sitting/standing/walking required
  • Ability to lift up to 5 lbs.

TRAVEL:

  • Travel is required as necessary.

Minimum Salary

USD $158,737.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary

USD $198,421.00/Yr.
