Job Description
The Senior Director, Perioperative Services provides daily strategic administrative oversight and operational control to assigned nursing units/area of responsibility. As a member of the nursing leadership, assumes responsibility for the planning, implementation and evaluation of systems for the delivery of nursing care, in accordance with ANA’s Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice and Scope of Nursing Administration Practice, American Hospital Association’s Advisory Role and Functions of the Hospital Nurse Executive, The Brooklyn Hospital Center’s Standard of Care and the institution’s mission and goals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Master’s Degree – HIGHLY PREFERRED
- Minimum of five (5) years progressive leadership experience
- Current New York State License as a Registered Professional Nurse
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Completion of de-escalation training within 90 days of employment and every two years thereafter.
- Knowledge of guidelines of the regulatory bodies - The Joint Commission, Department of Health and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.
- Assessment skills
- Ability to make safe judgement calls.
- Strong communication skills for in-servicing the staff
- Excellent customer service skills, responsible for meeting deadline, punctual.
- Effective written and verbal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, manage multiple priorities.
- Basic computer skills
