About the Department
The Marketing and Communications Department sets NYRR’s brand tone. They construct and magnify stories and messages to help and inspire people through running, across advertising, media, brand strategy, creative materials, video, photography, race broadcasts, editorial, brand presentations, and multiple web and digital platforms. They connect with the world's best athletes and ambassadors to deepen NYRR's mission. They leverage channels ranging from international broadcasts to screens at our NYRR RUNCENTER, individual emails to mass media, and from digital journeys to race day signage. The Marketing and Communications team connects NYRR's initiatives and innovations to the hearts and minds of our community, inspiring them to run for life.
The NYRR Photography & Video Team oversees the production and distribution of all NYRR event photography and video capture, including video production oversight and support for livestreams. This dynamic team blends extensive logistical planning with creative photography and video production to ensure NYRR’s brand is showcased across all facets of the organization. This work spans events large and small, including the globally recognized TCS New York City Marathon, New Balance 5th Avenue Mile, and United Airlines NYC Half. Additionally, the team works with internal and external stakeholders to service photography and video needs, including digital content series, livestreams, and event content creation. The Photo & Video team works within the NYRR Content Team, collaborating with Broadcast, Experiential Production, Digital, Brand, and Studio.
About the Position
The Video Lead’s primary role will be the oversight and execution of NYRR’s livestream video productions. In addition, this role will shoot, edit, and produce videos to support NYRR’s marketing campaigns, and provide support to grow NYRR’s branded video content series in conjunction with the Director of Photography & Video. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the live stream production process, as well as a keen producer’s eye to give long-form content a second life as shorter, engaging, social-first video content.
Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):
- Create and develop NYRR’s live stream process and procedure to ensure seamless end-to-end video capture and streaming across all necessary channels.
- Act as director and co-producer for all NYRR live digital video productions.
- Create best-in-class operations and outputs for broadcast quality live digital productions, including ideating on new set design, lighting, camera locations, streaming platform, and graphic packages.
- Develop and implement a process to extend the life of long-form content by creating short-form videos to support audience awareness and promote upcoming shows.
- Collaborate with the Media & Public Relations team to shoot, produce and edit race day video news releases for distribution to broadcast outlets.
- In conjunction with the Director of Photography & Video, work with the NYRR’s marketing and social media teams to develop and create high quality race day video content and storytelling in alignment with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Support the Broadcast team to edit and produce video melts for use in NYRR broadcasts, and third-party video projects.
- Collaborate with NYRR’s Strategic Partnership team to develop and grow video content series to provide engaging content for maximum partner exposure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and outside vendors to develop and support production schedules to meet short and long-term production goals.
- Identify and resolve production issues, develop process improvements, and best practices.
- Organize database of NYRR-owned video assets and support oversight of the organization’s video server.
Job Requirements:
Experience:
- 3-5 years of live stream video production and creative video production experience.
- Understanding of live stream platforms, technologies, and best practices (Vimeo, OBS, Restream, Streamyard, Wirecast, etc.).
- Understanding of live stream video equipment (PTZ cameras, Blackmagic ATEM switcher, tripod systems).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator).
- Ability to carry out detailed instructions and multi-task.
- Ability to manage and prioritize both short and long-term projects.
- Ability to focus and perform in fast-paced and high-pressure settings.
- Effective and quick decision making in varied, dynamic environments.
- Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with digital asset management tools.

Other Requirements:
- All staff are required to work the NYC Half Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon, and the TCS NYC Marathon.
