Position Information:
Are you looking for a fun and fulfilling job opportunity? Look no further than the Great New York State Fair! The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is hiring for several temporary State Fair Worker positions to work at the New York State Fairgrounds. State Fair Workers perform a variety of tasks in support of event parking and safety on the New York State Fairgrounds. Specifically, these positions perform the following:
- Greets and assists visitors with directions to parking areas and in locating various buildings on the property. Provides information on general policies regarding such areas as parking, grounds, facility use, and fees for parking and events.
- Controls access and directs vendors, patrons, and employees to designated parking areas.
- Assists with special parking needs.
- Assists in maintaining smooth traffic flow during events by setting up traffic cones, signage, barricades, and other equipment.
- Issues daily parking passes.
These Labor Class, CSEA-represented positions are part-time, on-call, and work year-round, primarily on a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday schedule for most major events. These positions provide a competitive pay of $15.95/hour.

As a New York State employee, you could potentially qualify to participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF)! The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your direct loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under an accepted repayment plan and while working full-time for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets or another eligible employer.
Minimum Qualifications:
There are no education or experience qualifications or requirements for these positions. Candidates must have physical ability to perform work consisting of light or medium to heavy physical labor.
When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
