The Senior Data Governance Specialists in the Banking and Insurance Divisions are an integral part of the data governance strategy at the Department of Financial Services. Responsible for working with the Business Units, enterprise Data Governance team, Technology Bureau, among others to drive enterprise data policy efforts, this role also plays a critical part in driving transformation of data, business processes and practices within DFS, in alignment with the overall enterprise-wide strategy. Salary: The starting salary for this position is $84,156 with periodic increases up to $106,454
Positions located within the New York City metropolitan area, as well as Suffolk, Nassau, Rockland, and Westchester Counties, are also eligible to receive an additional $3,400 annual downstate adjustment.

The Senior Data Governance Specialists in the Banking and Insurance Divisions are an integral part of the data governance strategy at the Department of Financial Services. Responsible for working with the Business Units, enterprise Data Governance team, Technology Bureau, among others to drive enterprise data policy efforts, this role also plays a critical part in driving transformation of data, business processes and practices within DFS, in alignment with the overall enterprise-wide strategy. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supports the Deputy Superintendent for Data Governance & Management and data governance capability leads;
- Obtains appropriate involvement from DFS divisions and extensively collaborates with Business Unit Data Stewards;
- Ensures that data governance processes are integrated into the appropriate and defined enterprise processes;
- Monitors implementation of data governance processes;
- Supports operations and administration of enterprise data governance forums and related data forums as needed;
- Assists with Data Governance SharePoint site;
- Ensures appropriate access and retention of documentation/records as per applicable guidelines and advances data governance procedure documentation;
- Supports the data governance community by contributing best practices, facilitating knowledge sharing and cross training, and advancing enterprise data literacy efforts;
- Contributes to maturation of data governance tooling and related capabilities;
- Partners with Chief Technology Officer organization to deliver solutions;
- Contributes to enterprise data governance program’s metrics and reporting;
- Provides project management support for data-related projects and provides data governance SME expertise;
- Escalates risks and issues to Deputy Superintendent for Data Governance & Management;
- Supervises DFS or contract staff as needed; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience In One Or More Of The Following
- Data Governance or Data Management, Data Analysis, Data Analytics or Visualization, Statistical or economic analysis, Data and/or Information Security, Data Quality, Metrics and Reporting, Internal Controls and Process Re-engineering, Financial Risk Management, Policy Analysis
