Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and supervises the delivery of activities programs to residents of a skilled nursing facility.
Develops and implements specialized activities programs for residents diagnosed with dementia.

Minimum Qualifications
"Either 1. 12 semester credit hours** in therapeutic recreation, arts, crafts, dance, drama, or physical education and one year of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting***;
Or 2. a high school or high school equivalency diploma and two years of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting***;
Or 3. four years of experience in direct client care in a geriatric setting***.
Four years of direct patient care experience.
Open to NYS Employees: Current NYS employee and eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.
Open to the Public: There will be no written examination. If you meet the minimum qualifications, your education and experience will be evaluated against the general background/critical activities of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with long-term care experience in a geriatric setting.

- You must submit a list of qualifying courses with your application. You must indicate the course name, the number of semester credit hours for each course, the name of the school, and the date when the credits were earned.
- Direct client care experience includes, but is not limited to, attending to patients' personal hygiene, grooming, nutrition, and daily living needs. Examples of geriatric settings include, but are not limited to skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, and adult day care facilities, and senior centers."
