Duties Description
The New York State Education Department’s Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking candidates for a Support Services Assistant position in the Brooklyn District Office. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for assisting a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the following:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have either a high school diploma OR a High School Equivalency diploma.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Special consideration will be given to candidates who have experience working in a clerical office setting preferred but not required.
Additional Comments
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a temporary appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. This appointment is contingent upon the continued employment of the Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to whom assistance is being provided.
Based on this position’s location, in addition to the listed base salary, this position also receives a $3,400 Downstate Adjustment.

- Learning new computer data systems, as needed;
- Escorting visitors;

- Performing other routine clerical duties, as assigned.
