Job Overview
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) seeks a qualified and highly motivated System Administrator / System Administrator II to join its Information Technology team. The successful candidate will be part of a highly nimble team of professionals dedicated to producing high quality project deliverables. The System Administrator plays a vital role in helping to execute and support the overall NYSERDA technical environment and be a contributor to ensuring a reputation as a customer-focused department. The successful candidate will blend a strong technical acumen with exceptional communication and negotiation skills to work with a wide array of users with varying technical skills. Occasional travel within NYS is required.
Primary Responsibilities
System Administrator :
Develop, support and maintain various IT infrastructure components including Windows Servers, Active Directory / Azure, and Office 365 Applications
Provide support for Azure Components within the environment
Assure that support & maintenance contracts for software and hardware are current
Assure that adequate system backups are maintained
Schedule & handle off-hours support and outages
Receive and respond to incoming requests regarding IT infrastructure problems
Support conference room meeting infrastructure
Work with server administrators at various cloud-based facilities to stand up new systems or resolve problems with existing systems
Monitor and maintain software patching tools and antivirus systems
Perform other responsibilities as assigned

System Administrator II :
Provide expert technical advice and support to ServiceDesk and other Systems Administration team members
Develop, support and maintain various IT infrastructure components including Windows Servers, Active Directory / Azure, and Office 365 Applications
Provide leadership and primary support for Azure Components within the environment
Assure that support & maintenance contracts for software and hardware are current
Assure that adequate system backups are maintained, and disaster recovery plans are in place and tested
Schedule & handle off-hours support and outages
Receive and respond to incoming requests regarding IT infrastructure problems
Design and support conference room meeting infrastructure
Work with server administrators at various cloud-based facilities to stand up new systems or resolve problems with existing systems
Lead administration staff efforts for software patching and antivirus system support
Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
System Administrator (Salary : $76,051-$105,255) :
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related degree and 2 years of relevant experience
Strong technical knowledge, implementation and support experience with VMware Horizon and vSphere, Application Server and Database Server architecture
Strong technical knowledge, implementation and support experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Windows networking (DHCP, DNS)
Demonstrated problem-solving ability; an entrepreneurial edge, resourcefulness, adaptability, and an instinct for surfacing value and pragmatic solutions
Skill in managing multiple diverse activities simultaneously, delivering on commitments and operating with speed, accuracy and strong judgment

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related degree and 5 years of relevant experience
Strong technical knowledge, implementation and support experience with Microsoft Windows Servers and Microsoft Azure SaaS resources.
Strong technical knowledge, implementation and support experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Windows networking (DHCP, DNS) and Microsoft Azure components.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability; an entrepreneurial edge, resourcefulness, adaptability, and an instinct for surfacing value and pragmatic solutions

A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related degree and 4 years of relevant experience
Prior production Systems Administrator experience
A strong knowledge of IP networking principles
Experience in Microsoft Azure
Experience with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop environments
System Administrator II :
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related degree and 7 years of relevant experience
Strong prior experience as a production Systems Administrator
A strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Office 365 Administration
Strong experience in Microsoft Azure
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop environments
