Staff AccountantThe New York State Health Facilities Association and the New York State Center for Assisted Living (NYSHFA | NYSCAL), a statewide nonprofit trade association representing over 400 skilled nursing and assisted living providers throughout New York State, is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant.The Staff Accountant, who reports directly to the Controller, supports financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and assisting in budgeting and audit processes. This role ensures compliance with non-profit accounting standards and internal financial policies to effectively support the organization’s mission.Responsibilities include : Manage daily cash receivables, including applying payments to member and non-member accounts; prepare reconciliations between G / L and sub-ledgers.Accounts payable entries for all entities, month-end accruals of recurring items, and year-end 1099 processing.Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address bank inquiries.G / L functions include processing deferred revenue / prepaids, depreciation, and intercompany activity.Assist with accounting tasks for all grant programs, including vouchers, processing expenses within grant guidelines, assisting with reporting and budget development, monitoring grant contract expense compliance, and grant audit preparation.Assist with annual operating budget preparation.Prepare monthly consolidated P & L and Balance Sheet analysis for management reporting.Coordinate financial data for year-end audit review and grant audits.Assist with special projects relating to Residential Heath Care Facilities data (i.e., cost report) requests.Support overall financial services for NYSHFA | NYSCAL, providing Controller with reports and / or analysis as requested.Candidate must have : Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA track a plus.2 - 4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit organizationKnowledge of GAAP policies and procedures.Experience with grants (federal, state, and private) is desirable.Proficient in the use of QuickBooks and Excel.Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.NYSHFA | NYSCAL offers a competitive salary with an excellent benefits package.(Salary Range is 70k-75k based on experience)Please send your resume and cover letter to : lrobertson@nyshfa.org .EEO D / V / F / Mrecblid 8i6zelhhy720touw5id3jx1a1234ow
