Bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, and two (2) years* of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.

Duties Description
- Perform data extraction, aggregation, data quality checks, summarize results and create reports.
- Collaborate with staff to develop business intelligence solutions using data-oriented programming languages (R, Python), RDBMS (Oracle, MS-SQL), SQL, statistical/mathematical computations, and data visualization tools.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, and two (2) years* of experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.
- Substitution: A master’s degree in the above fields may substitute for one (1) year of specialized experience. A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two (2) years of specialized experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in science in data analytics OR 2 years’ experience as data scientist or data analyst.
- Experience with text analytics and/or mining.
