Duties Description :
The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill one Mental Health Program Specialist 4 (Clinical), M-2, position in the Division of State Operated Children’s and Adult Services. Under the general direction of the Associate Commissioner MH, the Mental Health Program Specialists 4 (Clinical) will serve as the Central Office Director of Social Work responsible for providing leadership, direction, training, consultation, and administrative support to the OMH Directors of Social Work and Social Work Supervisors and staff social workers.
Specific duties of this position will include, but are not limited to, the following :
Contribute to the creation or coordination of professional development opportunities and programs offering continuing education credits for Social Workers.
Minimum Qualifications :
Candidates must a Bachelor’s Degree in : social work, psychology, nursing, mental health counseling, psychoanalysis, or rehabilitation counseling and five years of professional clinical or administrative experience in a behavioral health program as described above, of which at least one year of experience must have been as a clinician in one of the fields cited above.
A master's degree in child and family studies, counseling and community psychology, creative arts therapy, criminal justice, health administration, hospital administration, marriage and family therapy, mental health counseling, nursing, psychoanalysis, psychology, public administration, public health, public policy, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, social work, sociology, or special education can substitute for one year of specialized experience.

Specific scheduled hours and telecommuting availability for this position will be discussed during the interview process. The number of permissible telecommuting days for each employee will be determined by the current work demands / assignments, as well as program operational needs and employee performance / productivity, but may not exceed 50% telecommuting in a two-week payroll period.
