Security Hospital Treatment Assistant (SHTA), Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center, Direct Care Position, SP25833

Duties Description

A Security Hospital Treatment Assistant will perform a variety of tasks related to care, engagement, treatment, education, recovery, safety, and security of individuals with mental illness in forensic hospitals and units operated my OMH, including:

• Participate in the development and implementation of treatment plans
• Interact with patients and observe and progress and responses to treatment
• Assist and instruct patients in attending to person care tasks
• Escort patients to activities and appointments on and facility grounds
• Complete necessary documentation and maintain patient records
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (HELPS) program.

Candidates must possess a High School or High School Equivalency Diploma and two years of full-time direct patient care experience working in a health care, behavioral health, corrections, or juvenile justice setting/program.

OR

An associate’s degree and one year of full-time direct patient care experience working in a health care, behavioral health, corrections or juvenile justice setting or a bachelor's degree.

There are six positions available with recruitment for all three shifts. These positions are eligible for Mid-Hudson adjustment of $1,650.

Additional monies are paid for:

• Pre-shift Briefings
• Inconvenience Pay

• You must be able to communicate and follow oral and written instructions and directions in English in order to perform the duties of the position.
