DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Regional Safety Manager, the incumbent will be assigned various duties throughout the department, which include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in administering training programs, including tailgate sessions, “Train the Trainer,” and region-wide safety training initiatives.
- Oversee the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Boot programs.
- Administer the Risk Tree program.
- Schedule and monitor Employee Health Service (EHS) appointments.
- Control and maintain the Confined Space inventory.
- Conduct facility inspections and complete corresponding reports to administer to parks.
- Perform playground inspections and submit detailed reports to administer to parks.
- Conduct annual fire extinguisher inspections.
- Conduct site audits to identify deficiencies and hazards.
- Track employee training and certification statuses.
- Support committees and provide leadership assistance when needed.
- Create and modify PowerPoint presentations for training purposes.
- Record minute meetings as required.
- Provide assistance to the Regional Safety Manager and Ropes Access Coordinator when necessary.

OPERATING NEEDS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
- Must be willing to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.
- Must have the ability to perform light to medium lifting and must be able to stand for long periods of time in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to work a variable schedule, including daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday hours as needed.
- Must have computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, Excel, Teams etc.

State parks and historic sites are staffed by a core of permanent employees who work year-round to maintain these precious resources. During the peak of our operating season (May through September) the permanent staff is supplemented by several thousand seasonal employees who work to ensure that our patrons have a positive and safe experience when visiting our sites.
