The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) in the Finger Lakes Region is seeking a full-time, long-term seasonal trades assistant to support regional masonry projects on a full-time, year-round, long-term seasonal basis. The incumbent will work under the direction of the Trades Specialist (Mason&Plasterer), SG-12 assisting with a variety of tasks essential to the completion of masonry projects.

OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
This position has the option to join the NYS Employee’s Retirement System and may be eligible for health insurance, dental and vision coverage as well as the opportunity for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave after time and service requirements has been met.

The incumbent will work under the direction of the Trades Specialist (Mason&Plasterer), SG-12 assisting with a variety of tasks essential to the completion of masonry projects.
Duties Include
- Work in support of the Trades Specialist (Mason&Plasterer) providing mason tender duties such as:
- Preparing materials, mixing mortar, and providing on-site support to ensure efficient construction and repair tasks.
- Perform general facilities maintenance including aiding park staff and regional maintenance crews in the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of park buildings and grounds throughout the Finger Lakes Region. Tasks include:
- Hanging drywall, painting, insulating, light electrical, helping tile, plumbing repairs, and assisting regional carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, etc.
- Perform work on uneven and steep terrain, carrying and moving tools, materials, and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Demonstrate safe working practices.
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, with both hand and power tools.
- Adhere to the agency’s Code of Conduct Policy and ensure compliance with all guidelines, policies, and procedures in the performance of daily tasks.

OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New
- Must be able to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair work.
- Must be qualified and medically cleared to wear a respirator and have knowledge of good safety practices.
- Experience operating light equipment such as skid steer, mini-excavators, and UTV’s is preferred but not required.
