Position Description:
The Board of Education of the Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School District announces a vacancy for the position of Superintendent of Schools with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. Mr. Michael Rullo, District Superintendent of the Sole Supervisory District of Delaware-Chenango-Madison Otsego Counties, will assist the Gilbertsville-Mount Upton CSD Board of Education in the selection process. The initial search for candidates will be closed; however, finalists will be expected to provide a community presentation. The Board of Education will make the final decision as to the successful candidate. Our District seeks continuous improvement and growth while maintaining fiscal responsibility. We are looking for a student-focused Superintendent who can:
- Be a visionary with clear direction for the district to foster a positive school culture for all stakeholders (students, parents/guardians, staff, community members, etc.)
- Show genuine concern for children through listening, being visible, and getting involved in the education and activities of all students
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to solve problems efficiently and in the best interest of students
- Make informed instructional and financial recommendations/decisions
- Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in an organized manner
- Build working relationships with the entire school community
- Lead long-range strategic planning efforts and make executive level decisions
