What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Offset Printing Machine Operator position at New York State Unified Court System?
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF WORK: Principal Offset Printing Machine Operators (Specialist) operate complex offset reproduction equipment requiring technical printing skills in setting up and operating sheet or roller fed equipment to produce work requiring critical register, several colors, and half-tones on both sides of paper during one pass. They also may oversee the work of an offset printing unit engaged in duplicating and printing written material in courts or court agencies, by supervising subordinate staff, maintaining the unit's records, distributing all materials prepared by the unit, and performing clerical and other related duties.
ASSIGNMENT: There are 2 positions available assigned to the Central Printing Services Unit. Duties include, but are not limited to: setting up and operating press; making negatives from original copy and making metal offset plates; preparing business cards, letter heads and memo pads; cleaning and maintaining machinery; making minor repairs; operating various printing equipment; preparing finished materials for distribution; preparing requisitions for the purchase of printing supplies and equipment; overseeing inventory and distribution of supplies; assisting with digital printing; assisting in the mail room as needed; and acting as a back-up for making deliveries of court documents/files throughout New York City.
A valid NYS Driver’s license is required, must be able to operate motor vehicle and deliver items including documents and various materials to other buildings. Also, may be responsible for transporting employees on official business in addition to operating photocopy equipment and sorting material along with sending out various documents while providing customer service. Familiarity with Fiery Workstation, Make ready, and Photoshop preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Xerox Nuevera black and white, and Xerox Iridesse 4 color press preferred.
