What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Dental Assistant position at New You Dental Center?
The Lead Dental Assistant will assist our Dentists with patients chairside and will help the manager monitor the workflow of the dental assistants, oversee lab cases, order supplies, and maintain instruments/equipment. Must be A Registered Dental Assistant or have 10 years of experience working as a dental assistant. Experience assisting in dental implant procedures very favorable.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Under supervision of the manager will help monitor the day to day work flow of the dental assistants to ensure excellent patient care and office productivity/efficiency during the workday.
- Coordinate with the Purchasing Manager to place clinical supply orders and monitor usage of dental inventory.
- Work with the office manager to update the master maintenance list periodically.
- Work with the manager to train new dental assistants on office protocol, dentists preferences, usage of handpieces, practice management platform (Dentrix Ascend), instruments and other small and large equipment used by assistants on a daily basis.
- Coordinate with Lab to verify all the lab cases are accurate and go out on time to the lab to ensure turnaround time is adequate for the patients next scheduled appointment.
- Follow up with the front desk on any special requirements for the patients care.
- Maintain all update documentation on clinic information in the dental practice management platform.
- Coordinate with HR to keep current on infection control procedures, OSHA and MIOSHA guidelines and dental materials.
- Work with management to delegate the daily workloads and tasks fairly among dental assistants.
- Maintain a smooth workflow between dentists, assistants, and patients.
- Report any incidents, clinic concerns, or changes to the dental manager or director.
- In addition to these job functions, the Lead Dental Assistant will also perform regular dental assisting job functions and duties as needed and/or requested by the dentists and office manager.
- Perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements
Experience and Skills
- Must be a Registered Dental Assistant or 10 years minimum of full-time work experience in dental assisting with proven track record of leadership and dependability.
- Must have good understanding of implants and have experience assisting chairside during implant placements and surgical procedures.
