The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of Per Diem Project Manager within the Office of Pupil Transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The Per Diem Project Manager plays a critical role in achieving the mission and goals of Newark Board of Education (NBOE), Office of Pupil Transportation by ensuring an optimal first quarter of the school year, setting up success for the remainder of the school year for the Office of Pupil Transportation. Under the direction of the Transportation Supervisor, the Per Diem Project Manager will drive strategic planning and implementation of projects that the Office of Pupil Transportation has identified as critical to supporting the NBOE in its mission of improving student achievement, particularly in the area of Pupil Transportation. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to profoundly impact student outcomes by shaping the NBOE’s strategy within the Office of Pupil Transportation.
The Project Manager reports to the Transportation Supervisor. This position works closely with the Executive Director and Transportation Supervisor to ensure that the district is successfully set up to run and operate a leading Pupil Transportation program and are addressing requirements. The Per Diem Project Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that the department meets all goals of its work supporting the District in establishing policies and procedures. This position may also be responsible for other duties as assigned.
BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Manager will support the work of the Office of Pupil Transportation in a number of ways including:
1. Work with the Transportation Supervisor to develop priorities and ensure that work is appropriately aligned.
2. Facilitate the development of the necessary infrastructure, systems and processes to monitor progress toward goals.
3. Develop and facilitate ongoing structures to ensure alignment across the Office of Pupil Transportation and other NBOE departments.
4. Identify and utilize data sources to assess the effectiveness of current programs and processes and support the development/expansion of effective programs and services.
5. Recommend new approaches to support the organization’s mission and goals.
6. Support day-to-day operations of the Office of Pupil Transportation.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a track record of the following:
1. Experience with requirements and best practices related to Pupil Transportation.
2. Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
3. Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
4. Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
5. Facilitates the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables.
6. Constantly monitors and reports on progress of the project to all stakeholders.
7. Minimizes district’s exposure and risk on projects.
8. Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
9. Tracks and reports project costs on a weekly basis.
10. Manages project budget.
11. Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate invoicing, and monitors receivables for projects.
12. Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions.
13. Follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
14. Assures project legal documents are completed and signed.
15. Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
16. Holds regular status meetings with project team.
17. Keeps project team well informed of changes within the District.
18. Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.
19. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.

1. Salary: $30 an hour
2. Employment Period: Per Diem (As Needed)
