Job Title: Human Resources Coordinator

Job Summary: The Human Resources Coordinator will oversee all HR functions, ensuring our childcare center operates smoothly and efficiently. This role involves managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and compliance with employment laws. The HR Coordinator will work closely with the management team to foster a positive and productive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Staffing: Manage the full recruitment cycle, preparing job descriptions and creating job postings, interviewing, hiring, and create and implement effective onboarding of new employees.
- Employee Relations: Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and promote a positive work environment. Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Performance Management: Develop and implement performance appraisal systems, provide feedback, and support professional development.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Training and Development: Organize and conduct training sessions for staff on various topics, including best practices, safety protocols, and professional development. Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide development opportunities for employees.
- Payroll and Benefits Administration: Oversee payroll processing and manage employee benefits programs. Manage the agency’s benefits administration, including tracking employee eligibility for benefit programs, enrolling employees as they achieve eligibility, and acting as employee liaison to benefit program personnel
- Policy Development: Create and update HR policies and procedures to align with best practices and legal requirements. Provide education on policies and procedures
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential employee records. Manage staff files including new hire requirements (background checks and clearances etc.) according to internal, Office of Child Care Licensing, and legal requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably in a childcare or educational setting
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations and disciplinary procedures
- Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skillsAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
- Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
- Strong ethics and reliability
Preferred Qualifications:
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR).
- Experience in a childcare or early childhood education environment

- Acceptable Criminal Background Clearance
- Acceptable Adult Abuse Registry ClearanceChild Abuse and Neglect Clearance
- Sex Offender Registry Check
- (All of the above are required for the State of Delaware, current state of residence if outside of Delaware, and any states the employee has resided in during the past five years)
- Maintains current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Other duties as assigned
