Description
Under the general supervision of the COA Director & direct supervision of the Programs & Community Relations Supervisor, assists in planning and overseeing the socialization and activities at community meal sites and other satellite meal locations. This position works in conjunction with the Meal Site Cook.
Examples of Duties
- Greets and maintains friendly relationships with clients who attend the various COA meal sites.
- In conjunction with the Meal Site Cook, provides a client-centered and appealing atmosphere.
- Assists in serving lunch to community meal participants as needed.
- Maintains records of site participants, including the annual client demographic information for reporting, as required by funding agencies. Assists in counting/recording daily community meal donations. Collects, records and submits any payments and signup sheets for recreational trips to their supervisor.
- Assists in planning and coordinating activities that bring joy to the participants and to enhance their quality of life.
Typical Qualifications
Education: High school graduation or equivalent is required.
Experience: Two years of prior people-focused experience. Experience working with older adults is strongly preferred.
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License
Supplemental Information
This position is regularly required to express oneself and exchange information verbally; frequently required to move about the dining area; may operate normal kitchen appliances from time to time; and move or transport items weighing up to 30 pounds. This is largely an active role; moving about a room is to be expected. Bending, stooping and climbing stairs will occasionally be necessary. This position must have the ability to travel to meetings, meal sites, trainings, etc.
