Description:
Communicating the following with students and their families who have limited English proficiency: students’ academic progress; classroom rules; course syllabi, school registration; issues that affect students’ learning, e.g. career plans, attendance, behavior, college preparation and homework. Work with teachers, principals, students, and patrons to support student learning in the classroom. Make periodic home visits to ensure ongoing communication. Track academic progress of students and report progress to parents on a consistent basis.
Requirements:
Two years of college, associate’s degree or passing score on a para-professional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law. Requires fluency in Spanish and excellent communication skills with speakers of both English and Spanish. Understanding of the experiences, working and living conditions, language and culture of the Hispanic society. Prior experience with students in an educational setting and working within the Latino community. Employment contingent upon fingerprinting.

Classified, Temporary, Part-Time position at Edwards Elementary
Hours/Days:
7.25 hours/day (8:00am – 3:00pm with ½ hour break) for 16 days; Monday – Thursday July 7, 2025 through August 1, 2025, 2 days additional time for training. (Actual working hours may vary, final schedule TBD at a later date). EMPLOYMENT CONTINGENT ON ENROLLMENT AND GRANT FUNDING
Wage:
Range 12 of Classified Wage Schedule, paid by timesheet.
