As an Academic Success Coach, you will provide personalized support to students with learning challenges, especially those with dyslexia. Your mission is to guide them toward academic excellence and graduation.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Personalized student success: provide individualized, one-on-one assistance to students with dyslexia, fostering their academic growth and self-confidence.
- Action Plan Development: Assist students in creating actionable plans to overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
- Resources Connection: Guide students to appropriate resources and tools that enhance their learning experience.
- Assessment and Monitoring: Regularly evaluate students’ progress, attendance, and behavior to tailor support strategies effectively.
- Advocacy and Empowerment: Encourage self-advocacy in students, helping them understand and articulate their learning needs.
- Faculty and Staff Development: Collaborate closely with the Director of Dyslexia programs to design and deliver professional development sessions for faculty and staff. These sessions will focus on equipping educators with effective strategies for teaching and supporting students with dyslexia, fostering a more inclusive and understanding academic community.
- Marketing and Recruitment: Assist the Director of Dyslexia programs in working with prospective students and their families to showcase the program, highlighting the individualized support and transformative opportunities it offers. Provide clear and compassionate guidance to help families understand how Newberry College is uniquely positioned to support students with dyslexia in achieving their academic goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Dyslexia Programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required.
