Description
Newberry College invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Chemistry beginning in August 2025. Candidates need to have the education, skills and experience to teach analytical/instrumental and physical chemistry. Preferences given to applicants with experience and/or interest in teaching Forensic Chemistry. The successful candidate should be able to engage students through personalized pedagogy to be active participants in their learning, help the students build confidence in their intellectual abilities, and develop alternate strategies to help students grasp the material. Position is contingent on available funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The position includes 12-15 credit hours per semester of chemistry courses (lecture and lab), including General Chemistry (two semester sequence for science majors), and upper-level courses. The successful candidate will also serve as an academic advisor and will be expected to become an active member of the Division of Sciences, Mathematics, and Pre-Professional Studies, which includes being widely available for student help and developing student support programs such as supplemental instruction.

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Chemistry. ABD or master’s candidates with significant work experience will also be considered.
