What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Operator (Swing) position at NewCold?
Yard Operator
As a Yard Operator, your primary function of this position is to maneuver tractor trailers for the purpose of loading and unloading products while providing safety and security for the division yard and dock area. It is further required that above function be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
What you will be doing:
Maintain and maneuver equipment on yard prior to dispatch.
Ensure the safe movement of equipment around yard and warehouse.
Must be willing to work flexible hours.
Maintain equipment while on site.
Drop and hook tractor to trailer.
Inspects truck for defects, before and after trips and submits reports indicating truck condition.
Coordinate equipment for maintenance and repair (must be able to perform light maintenance.
Must be able to perform a DOT Pre-Trip inspection on Trailers
Responsible for the proper execution of the logistics activities and the monitoring of the yard management on the site.
Control of product flow for the yard management system.
Implement remedial actions to maintain the flow of product.
Autonomous action to prevent accidents.
Act in line with agreed procedures for ensuring quality of product is maintained at all times in line with customer requirements (temperature, damages etc).
Assisting the operation as required by the site, including:
Assist colleagues in carrying out tasks.
Helping maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
Continually look to opportunities for improvements
Other duties as assigned.
Intended results
The scheduled jobs are completed on time and correctly.
Products are loaded, unloaded and stored in a timely manner in line with customer performance standards.
Equipment is maintained in good order.
Equipment is tracked via the yard management system.

High School Degree
Experience Requirements
2 years of work experience in related fields
CDL Preferred but not required
