Newcomer Funeral Service Group is looking for a Funeral Director Apprentice who share our core values of Excellence, Trust, Care and Growth to assist families in honoring their loved ones at the Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions in Green Bay.
In this role, you will support Funeral Directors with preparing and finalizing funeral services. Your duties will include the removal and transportation of decedents while providing support to grieving families and funeral directors. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to handle physically demanding tasks, and a compassionate nature.
This is the perfect position for a motivated, compassionate individual. No prior experience is necessary but those with experience in EMT/Nursing are especially encouraged to apply as well as mortuary school students and anyone with an interest in funeral service. Hours require nights, weekends and holidays. Reliability will be critical as you will be handling the removal and transport of human remains from homes, hospitals, residences, coroner's offices, and convalescent homes to the funeral home. Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull 100 pounds or more with assistance and care for deceased in a respectful manner. Opportunities for growth within our funeral home are available.

Qualifications
Educational, Licensure and Skill Requirements
• A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study or job specific skills acquired through on-the job raining or apprenticeship program.
• A minimum of three months of similar or related experience.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels including management, associates, home office and families.
• Possess necessary licensure or other certification to meet local or state legal requirements in order to perform the functions of an Apprentice, always working under the supervision of a licensed funeral director.
• Possess a valid Drivers’ License and meet the driving performance standards as determined by management. MVR’s may be reviewed annually for compliance, and any conviction or at-fault accidents should be immediately reported to management.
• Must have computer and software proficiency.
Essential Physical Responsibilities
• Ability to tolerate exposure to hazardous substances subject to government requirements; occasional lifting, pushing and pulling, with assistance, of objects up to approximately 600 pounds; manual dexterity required for clerical tasks; occasional stooping, bending, pushing, pulling and carrying objects weighing up to approximately 30 pounds for short distances.
• Ability to travel by standard methods of transportation.
