Position Overview
As the Head of Preconstruction, you will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of preconstruction for commercial construction projects. You will act as the primary point of contact for project teams, clients, and stakeholders, ensuring that each project is accurately estimated, strategically planned, and ready for a successful execution phase. This is a unique opportunity to help build out a preconstruction department from the ground up, working closely with leadership to scale and grow operations.
Your role will be crucial in driving relationships with clients, vendors, and consultants, and you'll be empowered to take ownership of preconstruction processes while building a team over the next 6-12 months. You will also be involved in business development, networking, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Preconstruction Leadership: Lead the full preconstruction process for commercial construction projects in the $1M to $20M range, including budgeting, estimating, scheduling, and risk management.
- Estimating: Accurately develop cost estimates for projects, taking into consideration scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Project Planning: Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to develop project timelines, define deliverables, and ensure project feasibility.
- Business Development & Client Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, subcontractors, and consultants. Act as a trusted advisor and represent Pylon in networking events, industry functions, and client meetings.
- Team Building: Help build and mentor a growing preconstruction team, hiring additional staff as needed within the first year.
- Collaboration with Reggie and Leadership: Work directly with the CEO and senior leadership to shape the company's vision, growth, and operations.
- Cultural Leadership: Foster a positive and inclusive culture within the company, with a focus on diversity, equity, and creating opportunities for all team members to succeed.
Drive Impact: Play an integral role in growing the company’s footprint in Birmingham and surrounding areas, with a focus on making a lasting impact on the local community, including minority and underserved populations.
