WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for a Senior Electrical R&D Product Development Engineer who is a true systems thinker. As a Senior Product Development Electrical Engineer, you will join our growing R&D team and be developing engineering solutions for IoT connected smart devices, wearables, appliances, consumer electronics, self-driving vehicles, and robotic systems. You will be tasked with conceiving, designing, building prototypes (hands on), bringing up, debugging, testing, integration and taking electronics all the way to mass production. You will work in a fast-paced environment, iterating quickly on hardware designs. You will interface closely with other NDD engineers both internal and external to the R&D team to get feedback on the performance of prototype hardware so the designs can be improved upon, as well as make your own performance assessments and evaluations.

THE ROLE
- Provide passion and talent for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
- Work quickly and creatively to solve challenging engineering problems.
- Define product as a system – build system level electrical diagram of devices.
- Drive schematics and layout of PCB designs for new devices.
- Evaluate the performance of new electrical sensors, components, and technologies.
- Component engineering and validation.
- Rework and build in-house electrical prototypes as needed.
- Receive, interpret, and apply feedback from testing to improve prototype development.
- Interface with manufacturers to oversee assembly of small batches of assembled PCBAs and electrical designs.
- Apply learnings to propose new materials, components, techniques, and designs.
- Document your proposed designs, plans, progress, and findings.
- Communicate effectively with immediate and external team members.
- Keeping and tracking to-do lists.
- Use electrical layout software for custom PCB design and components tracing and placement.
- Generate BOM from schematics.
- Manage vendors for timely prototype parts procurement, and performing in-house inspection, and testing.
- Write firmware.
- Tinker with Arduino based designs to build quick proof of concepts. Including Arduino programming.
- Report to the Director of Product Development Engineering.

REQUIRED
- BS or greater in CS, CE, EE, or equivalent.
- Must have 5-7 years of recent and truly relevant engineering experience.
- Experience in electrical CAD (Altium Designer, Eagle) and a bonus to have simulation tools such as SPICE.
- Hands-on experience designing and building electrical systems including soldering and rework.
- Experience with wired and wireless communication protocols such as PWM, I2C, SPI, UART, Wi-Fi, BLE.
- Ability to assess challenges and design solutions across domains including electrical, firmware/software, optical, and more.
- Strong hacker/DIY mindset, communication skills and action oriented.
- Willingness to learn and grow rapidly to meet fast evolving needs of the R&D department.
- Must have recent and truly relevant product development experience of wearable wireless devices, consumer electronics, robotic systems.
- Demonstrated experience working on challenging Industrial Design and Product Development projects.

Salary : $135,000 - $175,000
