This role focuses on developing and teaching a new curriculum that provides enrichment opportunities in reading, utilizing library resources, research skills, reading stamina, and read-alouds. The Literature Specialist will create engaging learning experiences that extend beyond traditional classroom instruction and encourage students to explore literature in meaningful ways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and teach a new enrichment-based reading curriculum that integrates:

- Read-alouds to deepen comprehension and foster a love of literature.
- Opportunities for enrichment, compacting, and acceleration in literacy.
- Collaborate with teachers to enhance lessons in the Amplify Curriculum, integrating engaging and enriching literacy experiences.
- Utilize project-based, discovery, and experiential learning approaches to deepen students' engagement with reading and research.
- Work with students and families to foster students' reading lives and develop a strong reading culture at home and school.
- Support students in developing information literacy and research skills to critically engage with texts.
- Curate and introduce a diverse selection of children's literature, including both classic and contemporary fiction and nonfiction.
- Plan building-wide literacy events and programs in consultation with the reading team.
- Collaborate with the library clerk to enhance student access to high-quality literature and research resources.
- Inspire a love of reading through creative activities, book clubs, author studies, and student-led projects.
- Participate in professional learning and contribute to a collaborative school culture.
