This hands-on opportunity offers an opportunity to gain experience in the museum and in creating visitor-centered experiences. The Student Guide will collaborate with curators, educators, and docents to create innovative tours that would be exciting and engaging to any visitor and highlight various aspects of the permanent collection.

The Student Guide will collaborate with curators, educators, and docents to create innovative tours that would be exciting and engaging to any visitor and highlight various aspects of the permanent collection.
Responsibilities
- Learn and become familiar with the permanent collection of the IMA, as well as best practices for creating tours
- Observe and attend Docent lead tours
- Assist in the development and planning of guided tours for various themes.
- Collaborate with curators and educators to curate content that aligns with the Big Idea and Learning outcomes of an exhibition.
- Research art pieces, artists, and historical contexts to incorporate into tour narratives.
- Develop written materials, such as tour scripts, interpretive texts, and brochures.
- Participate in rehearsals and training for tour guides.
- Consider accessibility of tours for diverse audiences, including those with visual, auditory, and mobility impairments.
- Attend team meetings and contribute creative ideas for tour improvements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Creative thinking with an interest in innovative approaches to tour design.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Currently enrolled in a degree program at a college or university.
- Prior museum or educational experience is a plus but not required.
