Position
Hydrogeologist Scientist Level I or II
Position Summary
Based in our Denver (Englewood), Colorado office, the Hydrogeologist will be responsible for implementing technical scope of work, conducting field investigations, developing 3D geologic models, data analysis and development of Conceptual Site Models, supporting numerical model development and reporting to support the needs of mining clients in the US and abroad. This position requires superior written and verbal communication skills to effectively interface with staff personnel, clients and vendors.
Position Requirements
Education Requirement : B.S. in Hydrogeology or related fields such as geology, hydrology, hydrochemistry, environmental engineering, and civil / geological engineering.
Experience Requirement : Recent graduate or 1 to 2 years of experience working in the mining or water supply sectors. Experience with geoscience fieldwork and / or working around drill rigs is advantageous.
Computer Software : Proficiency using Word, Excel, Access, and GIS software is required. Proficiency using Leapfrog, AQTESOLV, MODFLOW, Groundwater Vistas, FEFLOW, and GoldSim is advantageous, as is experience with R, VBA, python, or any other scripting language.
Required Registrations / Professional Designations : Interest in obtaining a Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer registration is required.
Required Travel : Domestic and foreign travel required; approximately 20 40%.
Position Location : Englewood, Colorado.
Physical Demands : Position may require sitting for long periods of time, extended hours working on a computer and lifting up to 30 pounds. Field assignments are located in a variety of climactic conditions and may require standing, squatting, bending, the use of machinery and a variety tools.
Language Skills : Proficiency in Spanish or strong desire to learn is advantageous.
Other : Excellent written and verbal interpersonal communication skills are a must. Interest or experience in completing geotechnical field investigations is advantageous.
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigation activities such as drilling oversight, well construction, vibrating wire piezometer and data logger installation, aquifer testing, packer testing, surface and downhole geophysics, groundwater sampling, and seep and spring characterization / sampling.
- Calibrate and maintain instruments for the collection of groundwater data.
- Assist with development of 3D geologic models and numerical models.
- Generate clear and professional graphics including plots, maps, and other figures.
- Perform analysis of physical and chemical data.
- Manage data and analyze diverse datasets to solve complex problems quickly, independently, and effectively.
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and professional technical reports and presentations.
- Effective communication of technical information to diverse audiences.

Salary : $70,000 - $80,000
