Opportunity Title: Benefits Specialist

Salary: $55,000 - $60,000 annually
Detailed Description
The Benefits Specialist manages and implements Newfields employee benefit programs with an eye to attract, retain, and reward high-caliber talent. This position partners with leadership to provide day-to-day guidance in matters relating to benefits and also to listen to feedback from recruitment and departments that enhance competitive benefits offered. This role requires previous benefit administration experience coupled with passion for people, networking with similarly situated institutions of cultural significance for the public.
Responsibilities
Administration
- Administers employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives for new hires and annual enrollments of existing team
- Suggests, develops, and rolls out new benefits initiatives and programs
- Researches and compares benefit programs offered by similar cultural institutions and makes recommendations for enhancements or improvements to remain talent-competitive
- Educates employees about benefits offered, changes, and enrollment processes
- Partners with the HR Director to work with brokers and vendors in the evaluation and negotiation of benefit plan renewals and enhancements.
- Facilitates accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers
- Compliance and Governance
- Monitors and ensures compliance with the applicable provisions of ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA
- Ensures adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
- Conducts monthly audits of compensation and benefits programs for compliance and equity
Required Skills
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and regulatory requirements
- Exceptional time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA requirements.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Educations and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, or related field and/or 5 years experience in benefits or total rewards, preferably in a non-profit or mission-driven organization.
- HR certification (CCP, CBP, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) preferred

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer with occasional standing, walking, and climbing stairs are required.
