What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech Pathologist position at Newfound Area School District?
Responsibilities:
Help reduce or eliminate speech/language/hearing impediments that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the District's educational program.
Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech/language/hearing handicapped children.
Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech/language/hearing impairments.
Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech/language/hearing impairments.
Provide screening to identify speech/language/hearing handicapped children at regular intervals and at specific levels.
Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs and correct existing speech/language/hearing handicaps.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and assistants to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities.
Provide information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
Provide in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech/language/hearing improvement.
Keep thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech/language/hearing services.
Maintain lists of referred, screened, and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services.
Compile a case history data on those cases where additional family history, health history, early developmental history, and environmental history are deemed appropriate.
Assume responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies and prepare and administer the annual budget for speech/language/hearing services.
