What are the responsibilities and job description for the SUBSTITUTE Teacher - Certificated K-6 2024-2025 School Year position at Newhall School District?

Newhall School District and the State of California require the following of all substitute teacher school personnel:
- A valid California teaching credential registered with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, which requires: (a) Bachelor's degree and (b) Passage of the CBEST test -OR- Passage of CSET along with writing portion of CSET.
- California Education Code Section 12915 requires at least once every four years that school district employees undergo a TB Skin Test (or chest X-Ray if sensitive to the skin test) and be found free of active tuberculosis.
- Completion of the following forms at the District Office during orientation.
- Payroll paperwork (b) Human Resource paperwork
A substitute will be employed on a day-to-day basis unless specifically contracted in a long-term position. A long term position is considered for regularly employed teachers who must be absent from the classroom for a minimum of 20 days.
PAYMENT AND PAY SCHEDULE
Substitute teachers are paid by the District at the rate of $180 per school day, $190 for Special Education, and $95 per half day (3 3/4 hours). There is a separate salary schedule for long-term substitute employment and for preschool.
