    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    A resource tutor, guided by the Resource Coordinator under the Title I grant, will provide tiered interventions for individual students and small groups who require academic support. This will be done following the Scientifically Research Based-Intervention (SRBI) model.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    The following statements of duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. These statements are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and responsibilities required of all personnel within this position.
    • Maintain confidentiality of students.
    • Drills to reinforce skills that teacher has taught.
    • Assists students with work completion.
    • Communicates with teacher student progress and issues.
    • Carries out classroom activities as directed by the teacher.
    • Assists in the administration of student assessments as directed by the certified teacher.
    • Supports the implementation of teacher planned lessons, both individually and in small groups.
    • Supports the implementation of student behavioral plans (both in the classroom).
    • Supervises students in the classroom.
    • Covers classrooms in absence of the teacher.
    • Carries out student routines as directed.
    • Enforces classroom, school and community rules and expectations as directed by the special education teacher.

    May perform additional tasks and duties as requested.


    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
    • General knowledge of intervention practices.
    • Ability to independently, effectively deal with student behaviors.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to develop and follow schedules.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Effective interpersonal skills with staff, students, supervisors and the general public.

    REQUIRED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL EFFORT AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

    • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, squat, stretch, kneel, push and pull.
    • Ability to assist in physical management and personal hygiene of students.
    • Ability to stand for extended period of time.
    • Ability to hear normal sounds with some background noise and to communicate effectively.
    • Ability to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruption.
    • Ability to attend to task/function for more than 60 minutes at a time.
    • Ability to remember multiple task/assignments given to self and others over long periods of time.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum:
    • ParaPro or Associates Degree
