Catering Team Lead

REPORTS TO:           Manager on Duty

DIRECT REPORTS:    General Manager

The CATERING TEAM LEAD is responsible to ensure all Newk’s guests and clients receive a positive Newk’s Experience outside of the restaurant. This position also assists the restaurant team in achieving planned sales by performing all responsibilities and tasks of their position according to Newk’s standards, policies and procedures for operational excellence. The CATERING TEAM LEAD also helps to protect the brand by maintaining a sanitary, safe, respectful, efficient and quality work environment while effectively managing operational/product costs.

The CATERING TEAM LEAD assists in the development, direction and motivation of the catering team members within the store, ensuring catering execution provides Newk’s catering guests with an exceptional Newk’s Experience and product quality outside the four walls of the restaurants.

·       Serves as an ambassador for Newk’s Eatery, within the assigned community as well as assists the Regional Sales Manager to identify and develop new catering contacts while maintaining positive, on-going relationships with current catering contacts. Serves as a positive role model of the Newk’s culture showing respect, concern and care for others. 

·       Understands that part of catering is the ability to demonstrate proper decorum and behavior in order to provide guests the same Newk’s experience outside the restaurant.

·       Demonstrates the ability to make decisions that impact the guest experience.

PEOPLE LEADERSHIP

·       Assists in the on-going development of catering team members within the restaurant of the assigned area.           

·       Assists in building sales through consistent, effective community sales initiatives as directed by the Regional Sales Manager and ensures brand standards for representation and communication are maintained.

·       Focuses the catering team on maintaining the image and Newk’s Experience service standards and actions to enhance the guest’s perception of their catering experience.

·       Attends scheduled restaurant manager meetings and other scheduled meetings to keep the restaurant management teams apprised of all catering activities and sales initiatives as requested.

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

·       Responds to catering guest calls in a timely manner and reports all guest contact information to the Regional Sales Manager for client databases and follow up.

·       Understands the Newk’s Catering Menu, Newk’s Catering Spec Guide, Catering Assembly sheets, Food Build sheets and catering order process. Maintains accurate and complete catering orders, client contact information, delivery logs and handles sensitive client credit card information in a protective and secure manner in accordance with Newk’s policies and procedures.

·       Ensures that all catering menu items are prepared, accurately portioned, and presented properly in a sanitary, clean and safe manner according to all established procedures, standards and specifications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES        

·       Reports to work on time, in proper uniform, including Newk’s Culture Card – ready to work!

·       Maintains a sense of urgency throughout shift.

·       Receives, prepares and delivers catering orders on time according to Newk’s standards of excellence and Newk’s Catering Spec Guide.

·       Schedules deliveries in the most efficient manner possible with the guest’s best always at top of mind.

·       Required under certain circumstances, to perform or assist all stations or functions for all positions in the restaurant as requested by the MOD.

·       Assists Regional Sales Manager in building and promoting catering sales by building and establishing catering guest networks within the community. 

·       Checks store email for incoming catering orders, guest catering inquiries, guest check reprint requests, etc. and responds accordingly in a timely manner to all requests for information.

·       Assists the restaurant teams within the assigned area to achieve planned profit levels through catering sales while providing catering guests with an exceptional Newk’s Experience.

·       Ensures proper management of inventory for catering utensils and equipment through effective communication of needs and projected catering sales and volume. 

·       Anticipates, identifies and communicates catering system breakdowns with the MOD, GM and RSM to achieve exceptional Newk’s catering guest experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

·       Occasional extensive standing without breaks.

·       Reaching heights of approximately six feet and depths of approximately three ft.

·       Must have high level of mobility and flexibility in space provided for periods of up to eight hours or longer as needed.

·       Must be able to work irregular hours under heavy pressure and stress during busy times; bending, reaching and walking.

·       Carrying trays of food products weighing approximately 20 lbs. for distances of up to 60 ft.

·       Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

·       Slip-resistant shoes worn at all times while in restaurant.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIRED

·       High School diploma preferred (college a plus)

·       Excellent communications and guest service skills

·       Impeccable time management and organizational skills

·       Ability to use a GPS, Google Maps and read a map to find delivery locations efficiently

·       Operable motor vehicle with valid Driver’s License and insurance per company policy

·       Computer literacy; Gmail, comfortable with Microsoft Office Software

·       Ability to operate FOH P.O.S. (Aloha)

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

·       Prior restaurant catering team experience.

·       Prior experience operating FOH Aloha System and BOH systems.

·       Trained and Certified on every line in the restaurant
