Dimensions

Purpose

The Director of Exploration Global Drilling Services will lead a global team of drilling supervisors to drive operational excellence across Newmont's exploration drilling programs.

Essential Duties

  • Develop, implement, and monitor global performance, productivity and cost management systems for exploration drilling operations.
  • Establish metrics and systems to track and diagnose drilling performance and drive escalation and resolution of issues.
  • Create standards, conduct regular assurance reviews, and ensure the development of best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure safety and operational standards are met.
  • Collaborate with supply chain to define requirements for drilling contractor services and ensure alignment with broader exploration and operational objectives.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external vendors to identify and implement cutting-edge drilling technologies and methodologies to enhance performance, productivity and safety.
  • Champion a culture of safety and ensure compliance with Newmont's safety policies and industry regulations.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on drilling performance, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external service providers, regulators and industry partners to ensure drilling performance opportunities are identified, analyzed, and reviewed appropriately.
  • Lead and manage a global team of drilling supervisors to deliver high-quality, efficient, and safe drilling operations.

Training & Experience

  • Professional designation in Geosciences, Engineering, Business, Occupational Health, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing operational standards, safety protocols, and technology initiatives.
  • Experience working in diverse geographical and cultural environments.
  • Experience in mine operations, exploration near-mine, brownfields and Greenfields environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of drilling methodologies, equipment and safety standards.
  • Expertise in risk management and assurance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in leveraging technology to improve operational outcomes.
  • Proficiency in commercial skills : negotiations, contracts, budgets, forecasting, planning, analysis, reporting and communicating results.
  • Working Conditions

    The role involves a mix of office-based work and travel to Newmont's exploration sites globally. Travel requirements may be significant, depending on project demands.

    The salary range offered for this role is USD $172,500-241,500. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and / or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate's salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

    This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company's performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
