The salary range offered for this role is USD $106,800- 126,825. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. About This Role
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will lead, supervise, and mentor a diverse team of geotechnical personnel, fostering a safe and inclusive work environment. They will oversee departmental functions with a strong commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and alignment with the overall business strategy.
Your role will consist of
- Provide proactive and reactive geotechnical support to Cripple Creek and Victor Mine
- Ensure reliability of highwall monitoring systems, ensure systems are implemented and maintained to support safe operations, ensure highwall monitoring data is collected, and that Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPs) are in place and acted upon
- Supervise the void team to plan, schedule, and coordinate drilling campaigns to map out and analyze underground workings within the property
- Develop or maintain mapping procedures, mapping systems and ensure data is collected in a timely manner
- Lead site identification and evaluation of geotechnical risks and opportunities
- Develop geotechnical hazard model and data collection program based on site conditions
- Perform geotechnical improvement reviews as requested, and ensure the site meets corporate ground control management standards
- Assist with development and implementation of standards for geotechnical data collection, analysis, interpretation, and ground control management
- Ensure geotechnical risks are clearly explained to decision makers and cost-benefits are explained where possible
- Provide back analysis of failure mechanisms and forward predict ground behavior
- Complete and utilize highwall reconciliations to identify problems and improve the mining and modelling practices, provide guidance to drill and blast to better protect highwalls
- Manage technical software for specialized geotechnical analysis and design
- Provide training to junior Geotechnical Engineers, as well as Geologist, Mining Engineers and Mine Operations personnel
Knowledge

- Bachelor’s degree in geology, mine or geotechnical engineering or equivalent experience required.
- 5-10 years relevant experience required, preferably in a production environment.
- Previous experience at different sites highly desired.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and consultation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and implement organizational needs.
- Demonstrate strong supervisory, verbal and written communication skills.
- This role is based in the United States at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine, located in Teller County, Colorado. The mine is at an altitude up to 10,400 above sea level.
- This position is 100% site based, however additional work may be required outside of the normal site schedule as business needs require.
- The position is based at site on a roster Monday-Thursday 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM
